Iran province performs al-Qadir ritual play

In a ceremony honoring Eid al-Qadir, a troupe in Iranian province of South Khorasan performs a ritual play re-creating the auspicious event.

According to a media report published Saturday some 2,000 people attended the ceremony this year. 

In the play which retells the story of what happened in Qadir Khumm where Imam Ali (AS) was appointed as the successor of Islam's messenger, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

Qadir Khumm's anniversary based on the Islamic lunar calendar is celebrated by Muslims as Eid al-Qadir.
